A woman was airlifted to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance and three others by ground ambulance after a truck crashed into a tree Monday night near Regina Beach, according to a witness.
William Hood was washing dishes inside his girlfriend’s home when he noticed a tree shake and a bloody man running down a nearby hill.
Hood said the man, who he believed was in his mid-20s, had no shirt and only one shoe on when he found him in a backyard.
“He took off running from us, so we just kept following him, we even got in the car and chased after him,” he explained. “We ended up finding him down by the beach and then I called the cops.”
Eventually, with RCMP on the phone, Hood convinced the driver of the totalled truck to walk with him back to the scene of the collision, which is where police arrested him.
“(The Toyota Tacoma) was in very rough shape,” said Hood. “The (truck) bed was almost flattened. The cab was pretty intact, but there were pieces everywhere.”
980 CJME is still waiting to hear back from police on why the man was arrested, as well as the status of the people taken to hospital.
