Dear Copy Editor:
Sorry . . . we were having so much fun in Winnipeg I knew it would be difficult to file my commentary after last night’s Jets-Predators game. I wrote this before the game, presuming Winnipeg would win. If Nashville won, please make the necessary changes.
“Basking in the glory of a Winnipeg whiteout, the Jets took command of their NHL playoff series with a 5-3 win over Nashville. Blake Wheeler and Patrik Laine scored two goals apiece. After beating up four Predators at the same time, Dustin Byfuglien completed Winnipeg’s scoring. Ryan Johansen scored all of Nashville’s goals. Preds defenceman P.K. Subban took three penalties and six dives. Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck outduelled Pekka Rinne, who was replaced after the second period.”
Sorry again for cheating on my assignment. Remember to change anything that didn’t happen. Hopefully, I get home from Winnipeg later today. Thanks.
Editor’s note: In spite of Darrell’s wishful thinking, the Jets had a disappointing loss at home Thursday night with Nashville winning 2-1. To all our friends, family, colleagues and any other Jets fans out there, you should probably still do YOUR work today.
