There will be no questions this week about the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ starting quarterback.
Zach Collaros will start Thursday against the Ottawa Redblacks. No question.
There was really never any doubt Collaros, with his $430,000 salary, would start, but the team played cat-and-mouse with the media about identifying him before the season-opener.
Collaros started slowly Friday against the Toronto Argonauts, but gradually became more comfortable and completed 72 per cent of his passes, including one touchdown and no interceptions.
After beating the reigning Grey Cup champs 27-19 and snapping a personal 12-game losing streak as a starting QB, Collaros will get another opportunity.
And if Saskatchewan’s defence plays as well as it did against the Argonauts, he could win two straight.
