Concussion issues. Head injuries.
We’ve been discussing those topics on the Green Zone since January, when the Saskatchewan Roughriders acquired quarterback Zach Collaros. We never really wondered if Collaros had fully recovered from his knee injuries, but we were curious about any lingering effects from previous head injuries.
The worst may have happened when Collaros left Thursday’s defeat against the Ottawa Redblacks to undergo the CFL’s concussion protocol. Collaros returned to the sideline in street clothes and his future status is uncertain. Nobody should ever wish harm on a pro athlete so Collaros’ good health is the primary concern, but the Roughriders are paying $430,000 to a quarterback with a history of serious injuries.
And that’s also a concern.
