The company has been growing and growing, monopolizing the sale of tickets for any event you can imagine across North America and the world. From an investigation focusing on the online ticket-selling company, CBC and the Toronto Star have accused Ticketmaster of price-gouging and co-operating with ticket scalpers, all designed to maximize its profits.
Prices for the same seat at a concert fluctuate wildly, depending on when the customer makes their purchase. This comes after reports that ticket-selling companies were raking commissions from initial sales. And they received sales commissions again when those tickets were re-sold on other websites.
What a scam! And it won’t stop at concerts or theatre tickets. This philosophy certainly carries into ticket sales for sporting events. So sports fans have also been gouged, over-charged for supporting their favourite teams. Tickets are already too expensive without a money-sucking company adding extra costs.
