People driving between Swift Current and Moose Jaw are advised to be cautious Thursday and Friday as they pass by Rush Lake – they’re likely to see a helicopter stringing up power lines across all four lanes of Highway 1.
SaskPower is installing the lines as part of the new Pasqua to Swift Current transmission line project; the lines will eventually join up at that city’s Chinook power station.
SaskPower spokesperson Joel Cherry said crews will only be closing lanes on the highway eight times over two days, so the chance that drivers will have to stop is small.
But he still reminded drivers to slow to 60 km/h as they approach the work area.
Cherry said flaggers will be out with visible signs so drivers know when they’re entering a work zone.
