A Humboldt Broncos player injured in last year’s devastating crash is finally going home from hospital.
Morgan Gobeil will continue his recovery as an outpatient at Saskatoon City Hospital. He has already gone through 333 days of physical, occupational and speech therapy.
During his time in hospital, Gobeil celebrated his 19th birthday and graduated from high school.
In a statement released on Monday, the members of Gobeil’s family said they are optimistic he one day will be able to walk and speak again.
Gobeil was among 13 people who survived on April 6 when the team bus collided with a semi truck at a rural intersection northeast of Saskatoon. Sixteen other people on the bus died.
The truck was being driven by Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, who has accepted responsibility for the crash. He’s to be sentenced on March 22 at the Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort.
