The Toronto Argonauts are coming to Saskatchewan with an 0-1 record after a 64-14 butt-whooping at the hands of rival Hamilton.
They’re led by head coach Corey Chamblin, who on Monday will man the sidelines as a head coach in Saskatchewan for the first time since he was fired by the Roughriders in 2015.
Some fans are calling this game a trap game — or maybe “fearing” is a more appropriate word.
Oh, we’ve lived that in Saskatchewan recently. In fact, it was last season when the Montreal Alouettes came to Mosaic Stadium after an 0-2 start and a 46-point loss.
Nobody was picking the Alouettes to win at Mosaic that week. Sixty minutes later — after the Als’ 23-17 victory — fans were bombarding the Green Zone post-game show with call after call after call. To say fans were irate may be an understatement.
Of course this week, the Riders’ best receiver won’t be on defence and Craig Dickenson won’t play yo-yo with quarterbacks like Chris Jones did with David Watford and Brandon Bridge last year. Well, at least we don’t think so after Cody Fajardo grabbed the No. 1 job last week.
So I’m confident picking the Riders this week. Although I was this time last year.
