A 24-year-old Regina man has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and eight counts of attempted murder after a number of incidents in the city in May.
Jamie Ray Munroe was to appear in court Thursday to face 23 charges stemming from 11 incidents.
According to a media release issued Thursday by the Regina Police Service, the murder charge is in connection to the death of 21-year-old Isaiah Terrel Akachuk of Regina.
Akachuk died May 18 after being found lying on a sidewalk in the area of Seventh Avenue and Garnet Street just after midnight.
Five of the attempted murder charges stem from a series of drive-by shootings that occurred May 21. Another man, Donnelly Edward Nanaquatung, was charged in connection with those events on Wednesday.
Munroe also was charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing in the city on May 17 and a shooting on May 18.
As well, he faces four charges of wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, three counts of armed robbery using a firearm, two counts of driving while prohibited, and one count each of pointing a firearm, shoplifting under $5,000, dangerous driving, failure to stop after an accident, and flight from a peace officer.
