The NFL draft next week will be a sign of the times, with COVID-19 making the league adjust to the new normal.
It starts with the location of the commissioner to announce the picks. Like me and Wheels on the Green Zone daily, Roger Goodell will be doing the show from his basement.
Then like most organizations, the NFL has had to come up with a way for the teams to communicate with the league to announce the pick. Over to you, Microsoft Teams — a website I hadn’t heard of until two weeks ago.
Oh, and the draft picks — 58 of them will have a camera and instead of a household of family and friends to celebrate their selections, they can’t have more than six people.
Fans will take part by being selected to have their faces on the screen when their team makes the pick on a screen behind Goodell.
All these changes also make the NFL look a little more relatable than the Vegas show it was going to put on in the Bellagio fountain with players jumping on a boat to meet the commissioner.
