Highway 4 south of Rosetown has reopened after a fire caused it to close Wednesday afternoon.
RCMP told West Central Online the fire started from a burning barrel on a farmyard and spread to a field due to high winds.
Bob Sheasby was driving in the area when he saw heavy smoke in the air.
“At first we saw the smoke, and as we got closer realized it was a pretty major fire,” he told 650 CKOM.
Sheasby said the fire seemed to be moving fast.
“We heard a bunch of explosions, probably four or five, it could be gas tanks or propane or whatever,” he explained.
The fire was extinguished Wednesday evening. No one was injured, but several buildings were damaged in the blaze.
More to come…
