The Los Angeles Dodgers cleaned up in Game 1 of the World Series.
Saskatchewan seems to be rooting for the underdog with the small-money Tampa Bay Rays against the big-money machine in Los Angeles.
I usually side for the underdog but I can’t help but feel a little bit of pull for a pitcher like Clayton Kershaw and a manager like Dave Roberts to win this time around.
Kershaw has been dubbed a choke artist in the playoffs. He can’t win the big one. Roberts, who has been a top manager, has been thought of as a manager who may have to go if he can’t win again.
But do they deserve the criticism?
They were the victim of the sign-stealing scandal of the Houston Astros in 2017 and the Boston Red Sox in 2018, who were also investigated for stealing signs.
I’ve made it clear what I think of Houston. The Astros should have had to forfeit that championship.
So, I’m fine if the Dodgers win. They’ve been good for a while and likely should have won at least one of their previous two trips to the final.
