A 27-year-old Regina man has been sentenced to 10 years two months in prison for his role in a number of incidents, including a series of gun calls in the city in May of 2019.
Donnelly Edward Nanaquatung was handed a total of 122 months in prison and a 10-year firearms prohibition after a guilty plea in Regina Provincial Court. His sentence was reduced to 96 months with credit for the time he spent on remand.
Nanaquatung pleaded guilty to four charges of discharging a firearm with intent, two charges of assault with a weapon, and one charge each of robbery and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Seven of the eight charges stemmed from incidents that occurred on May 21, 2019, when Regina Police Service officers handled six gun calls within half an hour.
Three men were shot in three of those incidents. In two of them, a pickup truck pulled up beside people and a weapon was pointed at the individuals. The sixth incident was a report of a gun being fired from a truck; no one was injured.
The eighth charge was laid in connection with an incident that happened on the Muskowekwan First Nation.
