You know the callers and pundits who have been criticizing the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ offence are right when the quarterback lays out most of the same points those outside have been making for a few weeks.
Cody Fajardo laid it out after a frustrating loss to the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday night.
Even Fajardo is tired of the dink-and-dunk offence. He was clear they need more than Kian Schaffer-Baker to produce big plays. Fajardo is tired of seeing 50/50 balls land in the other team’s hands or fall incomplete, like the one that ended Saturday’s game. The QB also knows he’s struggling to hit those deep passes as well.
Oh, and then it got strange when he said he needed to enunciate more clearly because some of the wording is similar and on two occasions players thought he said the other call.
While the Riders are 5-3 and well on their way to the playoffs, it’s a bit disconcerting when the quarterback is doubting how successful they can be running one of the most timid and uninspiring offences many in Rider Nation have seen.
