Regina city council is expected to discuss Wednesday whether it should allow residents to ride their own e-scooters this summer.
Councillors voted in favour of a shared e-scooter program earlier this month, and that program is slated to start in July.
In a news release, the City of Regina said traffic bylaw amendments would need to be approved before residents can ride personal e-scooters.
Until those amendments are approved, personal e-scooters remain prohibited in the Queen City.
According to the agenda for Wednesday’s city council meeting, councillors are also expected to discuss finalizing Regina’s bid to co-host the 2025 IIHF world junior hockey championship with Saskatoon, which would cost the city $400,000.
The agenda also said city council will discuss whether Coun. Cheryl Stadnichuk should be appointed to Community & Social Impact Regina’s board of directors.
In February, council voted to remove Coun. Dan LeBlanc from the board.
In addition, council voted against appointing Coun. Bob Hawkins to the board last month.
Furthermore, councillors are expected to take a closer look at the city’s plan to spruce up downtown by adding new holiday decorations and enhance the four-season use of City Square.
The project is expected to cost $362,538.
