Hours after a joyride in a stolen taxicab ended with the vehicle stuck on the steps of the Cornwall Centre, another taxi ride allegedly ended with threats from a passenger.
On Saturday around 9 p.m., Regina police were sent to the 2600 block of Dewdney Avenue after reports of a weapon offence.
A man and a woman were picked up by a cab driver, and on the way to their destination, police said the man pulled out a hatchet and threatened the driver.
The driver pulled over next to a co-worker’s parked cab and left the vehicle. The second cab driver told the man and the woman to leave the vehicle.
Police said when the man threatened the second driver with the weapon, the driver swung a baseball bat and hit the man on the hand.
