A 25-year-old Winnipeg man is facing charges after police officers allegedly saw him jumping from a third-floor apartment window while carrying a handgun.
Police said officers were in the area of Victoria Avenue and Montreal Street on Saturday just after 5 p.m. when they witnessed the man make the jump and take off running with the gun in his hands.
Officers watching from the Air Support Unit overhead saw the man duck into a yard on Victoria Avenue.
“The male came out to an alley where Police deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW), which was ineffective,” the Regina Police Service said in a statement. “After a short foot pursuit, the male was taken into custody without incident.”

Police said a search of the yard by a police dog turned up a loaded handgun and “a quantity of illicit drugs.”
The Manitoba man is now facing drug and gun charges, along with a charge of obstruction. He’s set to appear in court on Monday morning, police said.
