Police in Regina have begun a suspicious death investigation after a body was found inside a vehicle that had been abandoned on Princess Street following a police chase.
According to police, officers attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Saskatchewan Drive and Albert Street at around 3 a.m. on Monday. The driver successfully evaded the officers, police said, but the vehicle was later spotted in the 1400 block of Princess Street, in the city’s North Central neighbourhood, by officers in a police plane.

“All occupants had exited the vehicle and fled the scene,” the police force said in a statement.
“Officers on the ground searched the suspect vehicle and located the body of a deceased person inside.”
Police said the investigation also led officers to a home on the 3700 block of Dewdney Avenue, and both scenes were secured while officers called for help from the major crime and forensic identification units.
“At this time, the death is considered suspicious,” police said. “The victim’s name will not be released at this time.”
While very few details were released by police, the force asked anyone with information that could help further the investigation to get in touch with the Regina Police Service or Regina Crime Stoppers.
