Saskatchewan RCMP responded to a serious collision on Monday night and have charged a man in a shooting in La Ronge from over the weekend.
A report of a “firearm discharge” on Cook Crescent in La Ronge was made to the RCMP in that area on July 18 around 11 a.m.

“Investigation determined a vehicle approached a residential property. Several occupants exited the vehicle, and an altercation occurred between them and an individual at the property,” police reported in a news release.
“During the altercation, a firearm was discharged, injuring a female who remained inside the vehicle. She was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.”
A 36-year-old man from La Ronge was arrested as a result of the investigation, police said. Officers also found a gun, which was seized, near the property where the shooting happened.
The man is facing charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent and assault with a weapon. He appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Monday and is scheduled to next appear on Aug. 17.
RCMP respond to serious collision on Highway 1
On Monday afternoon, Maple Creek RCMP reported officers had responded to the scene of a serious collision on Highway 1, about a kilometre east of the Highway 614 intersection.
“As this investigation is in preliminary stages, we do not have additional details to share at this time,” police said in the release sent at 4:05 p.m. on July 20.
The highway was closed at that time for “an undetermined amount of time,” and detours were put in place, with the RCMP asking drivers to slow down and follow the instructions of emergency personnel at the scene. As of Tuesday morning, the Highway Hotline was not reporting any road closures in that area.
