Regina police responded to a weapons offence involving a taxi passenger on Aug. 25, after a similar incident in Saskatoon the week before.
On Aug. 25 at around 9:50 p.m., the Regina Police Service (RPS) responded to a call about a taxi passenger believed to be carrying a firearm and bear spray.
According to RPS, police found the cab and performed a high-risk traffic stop in the 1500 block of Rae Street.

The 34-year-old male passenger got out of the taxi and ran toward a nearby home and tried to enter.
Police deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon, and officers took the man into custody.
A loaded firearm, bear spray, brass knuckles, cocaine, and alcohol were all seized.
The man is now facing 14 charges, including possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Last week, on Aug. 18, Saskatoon police arrested a 21-year-old woman after she threw a knife at her cab driver.
It happened around 12:40 a.m. on Idylwyld Drive North between 35th and 36th streets.
While it was originally reported that the cab driver attempted to stab the woman, officers learned the woman had grabbed the driver’s phone charger when exiting the taxi.
When he came out of the car to retrieve it, she pulled out a knife and threw it at him.
She was charged with four counts, including possession of a weapon and assault with a weapon.
Charges laid in break-and-enter investigation
Also on Aug. 25, at around 11:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a break-in in progress in the 1000 block of Angus Street.
When they arrived, officers found a male suspect inside the building and arrested him.
A search of his person “revealed coils of copper tubing and tools commonly used to commit break and enters,” RPS wrote in a media release.
Subsequently, police charged a 22-year-old with two counts: break-and-enter and possession of break-in instruments.
That was the second break-and-enter RPS responded to on Tuesday, police said.
Around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning, officers responded to a business in the 4000 block of Rochdale Boulevard for a break-and-enter in progress.
This suspect was also found inside the building, though he was “uncooperative and resisted arrest,” according to police.
The man was arrested and charged with resisting a peace officer, failure to comply with a probation order, and break, enter, and commit.
