Another lottery-related scam is making the rounds in Saskatchewan, according to the Regina Police Service.
Police say they have received several reports of people receiving video calls from someone posing as a representative of the STARS Lottery. The fraudster also claims to be affiliated with the Bank of Montreal and calls to inform recipients they have won a lottery prize.

The caller then allegedly tells recipients they must pay between $300 and $500 to claim the prize. If recipients say they do not see their names on the list of winners on the STARS Lottery website, the caller tells them they will be added once they pay the money.
The Regina Police Service reminds the public that legitimate organizations, such as STARS, will never ask for payment to claim a prize. Police also encourage people to never share personal or financial information by email or through unfamiliar websites.
If you receive a suspicious call, police advise you to hang up and contact the organization directly to confirm the details of the lottery.
Police also said: “If you believe you are a victim of fraud or suspect someone is attempting to defraud you, contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500. In an emergency, call 911.”
