Three people are facing fraud charges after an investigation by the Regina Police Service and SGI determined that a collision had allegedly been staged.
According to police, officers were called to the scene of a crash at the intersection of Ninth Avenue North and Pinkie Road at about 9 p.m. on Jan. 4.

Police said all four occupants of the vehicles – a driver and passenger from each – were taken to a local hospital by paramedics with “serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” and both vehicles sustained significant damage in the head-on crash.
“Several months later, SGI notified the Regina Police Service of evidence indicating the collision may have been intentionally staged,” the Regina Police Service said in a statement.
Police said a subsequent investigation by police and SGI “determined the collision had been deliberately staged.”
The police force said three of the four occupants of the vehicles were arrested on Sept. 9. All three were charged with fraud over $5,000, while two of them were also charged with three counts each of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
All three accused, aged 23, 24 and 26, made their first appearances in Regina Provincial Court on Sept. 10, police said.
