Murray Wood The end of the great Canadian game as we know it
The last Roughrider home game was the last CFL game in Saskatchewan played on a CFL-sized field. Murray Wood thinks it's...
Hey, Toronto Blue Jays, for way less than $38 million I won’t play baseball for you either.
How desperately must you want to dump oft-injured, worn-out shortstop Troy Tulowitzki? Upon acquiring him in 2015 you were on the hook for about $115 million. Guaranteed contracts are ridiculous. Maybe he helped the team get to the ALCS that year, part of the 238 games he played while hitting .250 in 3 1/2 seasons.
Tulowitzki was crushed when his long-time team, the Colorado Rockies, dealt him and his huge contract to Toronto. The Rockies knew he was done. Maybe he was an honest teammate, a hard-working leader whose career ended too quickly. But nobody is worth that much — $38 million to never again play for the Blue Jays.
Tulowitzki reportedly took the news gracefully. Jeepers, who wouldn’t? “Here’s $38 million bucks, now go away!”
How many of us would gracefully accept such a wonderful parting gift . . . or less?
