The Saskatchewan government reported just one new case of COVID-19 but no new recoveries on Wednesday.
It’s the second time in four days that there hasn’t been a recovery reported. There have been just 16 recoveries announced over the past seven days, compared to 46 new cases.
The new case reported Wednesday was in the Saskatoon area. It increased the total in the province to date to 1,670.
There have been 1,587 recoveries and 24 deaths recorded so far. There now are 59 active cases being reported.
One person is in intensive care in Saskatoon.
There have been 428 cases in the south area of the province (218 southwest, 197 south-central, 13 southeast), 355 from the far north (349 far northwest, six far northeast), 277 from the Saskatoon area, 270 in the north region (131 northwest, 73 north-central, 66 northeast), 203 from the central zone (166 central-west, 37 central-east) and 137 in the Regina region.
A case reported Monday that didn’t have residence information has been assigned to the Regina zone.
The total comprises 838 community contacts, 494 cases without any known exposure, 254 travellers and 84 cases that remain under investigation.
The total includes 67 cases involving health-care workers.
There have been 542 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 507 between the ages of 40 and 59, 283 from age 60 to 79, 280 involving people 19 and under, and 58 in the 80-and-over range.
There were 757 tests performed in Saskatchewan on Tuesday, hiking the province’s total to date to 152,529.
A drive-through testing site opened in Regina on Tuesday and a similar facility is to open Thursday in Saskatoon.
The Regina facility is in Hall C of the International Trade Centre at Evraz Place. It’s to operate Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The site in Saskatoon is at 3630 Thatcher Ave. Its hours of operation are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 7:15 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A valid Saskatchewan Health Card is required for each person getting tested.
