MONTREAL — Police say the deaths of two people in their 70s whose bodies were found Thursday in a Montreal suburb are being investigated as a murder-suicide.
Longueuil, Que., police initially described the deaths as suspicious and said today the case involves a femicide.
Officers were called to a home in Boucherville, Que., on Montreal’s South Shore, around 8:45 a.m. Thursday to perform a wellness check.
Upon arrival they found the bodies of a 73-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman who lived together at the address.
Police spokesperson Jacqueline Pierre says an autopsy allowed officers to confirm the new hypothesis.
An investigation is underway.
