Regina police ask for help identifying human remains found last week

After announcing the discovery of human remains outside a Regina home last week, police are sharing more details and asking for help from the public.

The remains were found on June 9, after officers were dispatched to the home in the 1300 block of Retallack Street around 4:15 p.m. According to police, a caller said they believed they had discovered human remains outside the home, and their suspicions were quickly confirmed.

The Regina Police Service said over the past week, its officers, working alongside the RCMP’s historical case unit “methodically searched the area for evidence related to the suspicious death.”

Police said an autopsy conducted on Tuesday by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service has provided new information about the deceased.

The remains are believed to have been buried for at least five years, prior to 2021, according to police. The victim is believed to have been male, about five-foot-nine in height, and was aged 30-40 at the time of death.

“At some point in his life, the man sustained a broken jaw that required surgical treatment,” the police force said in a statement.
