A Regina man was chased down and arrested after allegedly breaking into an occupied home while armed with a knife.
Police said officers were called to a home on Scarth Street on Thursday night after getting a report that an unknown man had broken in while armed with a knife.
The man took off running when officers arrived, police said, and an officer in pursuit tried to use a taser, “which was ineffective.” Police said the man jumped a fence in his efforts to flee, but officers tracked him down and arrested him without further incident.
Despite the report saying the man had a knife, police said he was carrying a set of brass knuckles at the time of his arrest.
The 27-year-old man is now facing charges of breaking and entering, assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a scheduled substance, and breaching an undertaking.
He’s set to appear in court Friday morning.
