A woman and a teenage boy are facing charges of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Rebecca Mathieson in August.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers were called to an alley in the 1400 block of Wascana Street for a report of an injured person at around 4 a.m. on Aug. 14. When the officers arrived, they found 37-year-old Rebecca Autumn (Wilson) Mathieson “suffering from significant injuries.” She was taken to hospital by paramedics, where she died on Aug. 30, police said.

Police said an investigation led to 41-year-old Destinee Villebrun and a 17-year-old boy – who cannot be named due to provisions in Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act – each being charged with second-degree murder in connection with Mathieson’s death.
Both are expected to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Police said Mathieson’s killing marked the city’s fifth homicide investigation of the year.
